Public Invited to Safely Dispose of Unwanted Medications

Diamond Drugs, in partnership with the Indiana County Sheriff's Office and the Armstrong Indiana Clarion Drug & Alcohol Commission (AICDAC), will host a Drug Take Back Day collection, Saturday, April 27 from 10-2 at Diamond Drugs, 670 Philadelphia Street in Indiana.

The community is invited to bring any unwanted, unused, and/or expired medications for safe and anonymous disposal. (Please be advised that any illicit drugs, sharps, or radioactive medications will not be accepted.) Indiana County Sheriff Bob Fyock will supervise the collection and disposal of medications and representatives from the AICDAC will distribute free naloxone during the event.

This is the first of Diamond's biannual take back events held in April and October as part of the wider Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day effort. According to the DEA, Take Back Day "reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting."

Diamond's 2023 Take Back Day events netted over 100 pounds of disposed medications.
