Nearly 200 Pounds of Medication Collected

Diamond Drugs, in partnership with the Indiana County Sheriff's Office and the Armstrong Indiana Clarion Drug & Alcohol Commission (AICDAC), hosted Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27 at Diamond Drugs in Indiana.

Over 160 pounds of unused, unwanted, and expired medications were brought in for disposal. Indiana County Sheriff Bob Fyock supervised the collection and disposal of medications, while representatives from the AICDAC distributed free naloxone and addiction education resources.

This was the first of Diamond's biannual collection events held in concert with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day effort. According to the DEA, Take Back Day "reflects DEA’s commitment to Americans’ safety and health, encouraging the public to remove unneeded medications from their homes as a measure of preventing medication misuse and opioid addiction from ever starting."

The next Take Back Day is scheduled for October.
