For a third consecutive year, Diamond Drugs, Inc. is the "Best Place to Work" in Indiana County.
Established in 2021, the Best of Indiana County contest has given the local community an annual opportunity to nominate and vote for favorite businesses and workplaces across multiple categories. And Diamond continues to be the only company to sit atop the coveted "Best Place to Work" category.
For the 2024 contest, nominations took place in March, with a voting period following throughout most of April. Voters could cast their ballots daily throughout the duration of the voting period.
As with any voter initiative, enthusiasm is key to effective turnout. And with our enthusiastic employees (and over a third of those employees with a tenure 10 years or more), Diamond had plenty of enthusiastic voters to help put the company back on top for another year.
"Indiana County is the only home Diamond has ever known." said Mark Zilner, Diamond president, CEO, and second-generation leader. "We couldn't have grown without the dedication of many local, hardworking people. It was always very important for my parents (cofounders Joan Zilner and the late Gilbert Zilner) to build a supportive, family-oriented company with strong ties to our local community.
To be voted 'Best Place to Work' once again is truly a special honor for our employees and our company."
In addition to the Best Workplace win, Diamond's retail pharmacy Diamond Drugs and medical supply store Diamond Medical Supply also won three-peat gold medals in the "Best Pharmacy" and "Best Medical Supply" categories. As one of a handful of independent pharmacies left standing in Indiana County, Diamond Drugs win is also special to Zilner.
"2024 has been an especially hard year for local pharmacies closing in Western Pennsylvania and throughout the nation" he said. "For Diamond Drugs to win 'Best Pharmacy' against large chain stores on the ballot really shows how much people value an independent pharmacy in their community."
In related contest news, Diamond Drugs was also voted "Best Pharmacy" and Diamond Medical Supply won "Best Medical Equipment" in the Indiana Gazette and Blairsville Dispatch's 2024 Reader's Choice Awards. This was the second consecutive year both stores received these awards.
